The beginning of March tends to mark an obvious shift . . . we all seem to be sitting around saying “I can’t believe it’s March!” as if this month brings a freshness & brightness that have been lacking in the winter months. March feels safe – there are no bank holidays yet the promise of the first day of spring towards the end of the month. March feels like life at its best: a sense of accomplishment for making it through Q1 with all of the sunshine months still on their horizon.
I do little to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, but my favorite motif is the four leaf clover. I love the word “luck” – I think it’s one of the most magical concepts of our humanity. I feel lucky that I’ve discovered how much I love writing. I feel lucky that my first year in the “real world” has taught me so much about what I like and dislike. I also feel lucky that I drove quite a long way with my phone and car keys on top of my car (oops) earlier this week, and they didn’t fall off.
Although we may not always feel it, we are the lucky ones.
“Goals” feel a little too harsh for the ease of the month of March. The January buzz of reinventing yourself has no place in the gentle sunrise of March. With that being said, I’ve given myself a couple of guidelines for March:
— more substack, less instagram
— more movement, less tensity
— more inspiration, less replication
— more protection, less promotion
This week, I moved! It’s been the most fun learning my interior preferences and getting to reflect
on the design process as a whole. Individual style is uniquely yours (more on that here), and I have loved being able to put my finger on what I love. I cannot wait to share more about this xx
What I’m loving this week –
Beauty & Wellness –
I am still in my skincare / makeup phase. I have been to several appointments this week to help clear up some stubborn blemishes that I desperately want to go away. I have switched to Primally Pure cleanser and am loving that choice. I use the oil cleanser at night, and the clarifying bar at both AM and PM. I also love this serum (and transparently currently have it soothing into my face as I write). I also purchased the coffee face mask and body exfoliator, which I am loving.
My beauty product winner of the week is the revision lip replenisher. My cup runneth over with lip products (literally . . I have all of my lip products stored in a used Diptyque candle jar, and there is no room in the inn). But that didn’t stop me from ordering another today! Maybe that will be next week's recap. My qualm with lip products is that some tend to spill over and make the area around sticky, but I am sure that is probably user error.
I am loving colostrum + a dash of Creatine before a workout. I feel such a difference in my endurance and mental stamina when I remember to mix these two!
Fashion & Style –
Allison Bornstein is my blueprint for all things styling, and I recently watched a YouTube video of hers about how you should “regularly edit” your closet. If you are not familiar with the AB Closet Editing System, I think it’s the most foolproof way to begin what can feel like a daunting process of the closet clean out (here are details from her Instagram). I love to regularly edit my closet. I would love to soon write in detail about my year-long process of intense closet editing. I love LSD’s philosophy of “one in, two out” when buying new things. I am a regular returner of online clothes that don’t come in just *perfect* and often joke that I make up a large percentage of local consignment shops. If it is not perfect, should it really be in your closet?
This spring I want to focus more on styling what is in the collection of my closet – those pieces still remaining have been successful stays throughout at least a dozen closet editing journeys over the past year.
I am excited to style denim on denim (and as your resident Cowboy Carter fan, we have B to thank for the surge) in a way that feels true to myself. I got this Farm Rio denim top yesterday that I immediately put on and wore with white linen shorts (one of just two pairs of shorts I still own)
My Doen Ischia dress in black arrived last Saturday, and I am loving it so much. The price tag is sticker shock, but nothing beats a Doen dress. I am thrilled to add to my collection . . . !
Lifestyle & Leisure –
My days consist of house projects + MIMI by Miriam appointments, and, again, I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. The interior vision of the new house has given me such fresh perspective on creativity and is the most fun outlet (as my “outlet” is now my *job*).
I am watching The White Lotus, Summer House, and (admittedly) really enjoyed With Love, Meghan’s episode with Mindy Kahling.
I am listening to lots of podcasts – one of my hobbies is to search my favorite Instagram creators / brand founders and see if they have any podcasts episodes under their belt. I enjoyed this one with Brent Neale so, so much.
Talk soon <3
Xx, Miriam
