Sephora Sale –
It’s truly crazy that a bag not much larger than my hand can fit products that cost me (normally) over $300. Thanks to Sephora’s current sale, they cost me just $269. In an effort to intentionally spend money this year by only adding products (of any kind) to my life that truly create value and/or meaning, I recently banned myself from Sephora except for once a month.
I lose every ounce of willpower within those four walls and decide I need yet another clear gloss and completely forget that the $40 product I grab is the same amount of money I would spend on a nice dinner (cocktail included).
Due to my self-imposed ban, I needed restocks on a few items (plus had my eye on a few new products) that I wanted to get at the discounted rate. Pro tip: go to Sephora the moment they open to avoid the younger crowd. Love them, but lots of excess traffic only increases my thought that I need to spend another $100 to fill up my basket and further delay my next trip to the store. I started off my Saturday with a pilates class + journeyed to Sephora for the first time in over six weeks (a record since the days of my youth).
My Spring Sephora Sale Haul + Reviews are as follows:
Restocks / Everyday Products –
– After forgoing a proper primer for the last few months (thank you Rhode Glazing Milk + Elta MD SPF), I felt having no primer in my routine was something that needed to be addressed. Enter: Iconic London Underglow Blurring Primer. When both your real life friends + your favorite influencers glow about it, it must be worth trying. I used it last night, and I already love!
– I accidentally participated in #ProjectPan (dumb) with my previous setting powder, so the only true “restock” I needed was for my setting powder. I went with the mini size of Charlotte Tillbury's and grabbed a Sephora Brand Face Puff to help with application. I just use a pressed powder under my eyes and around the T-Zone (my oiliest areas). I use Laura Mercier’s Ultra-Blur Translucent Loose Powder all over my face, applied with a powder brush.
– Usually the most loyal to drug store mascara, I treated myself to Westman’s mascara. I’ve been eyeing it forever and got the mini size yesterday to test out. So far, so great! I don’t know if I would purchase the larger size (because of my passion so-strong-I-could-write-a-thesis about saving $$ on mascara), but the mini is for sure a worthwhile treat. Plus… My excitement for a full section of Westman at our local Sephora was unmatched. Truly the best + there’s always at least two WA products in my routine.
– I was (somewhat) close to using up my ever-so-fabulous CVS brand PM Moisturizer (esthetician recommended… this stuff is no joke!) and have been seeing a host of Instagram reviews about the iNNBeauty Extreme Cream, so I had been planning to purchase it for a while. I am quite cautious about moisturizers with my blemish-prone skin, so I opted for the mini size. I already give it my stamp of approval and do expect myself to repurchase it. My skin feels hydrated, plump, yet not “heavy” from the product. This may be my favorite purchase from my entire haul!
Treats –
– As we move on the the list of things that were (by no stretch of the imagination) a necessity, it’s fitting to begin with Westman’s Baby Cheeks Powder Blush duo in shades Coquette / Mimi (!!!). Purchased 110% because of the name “Mimi.” I had the most fun taking photos of this product getting ready for dinner last Saturday. I actually love this so much because these two powders are very close to my powder bronzer / blush I had been using, so I was able to easily integrate this into my daily routine.
– Hanni Water Balm was one of my primary reasons for shopping the sale. Lots of my favorite Substack creators are using Hanni body care, and I am such a fan. I love the smell + even more so love the ease of spritzing it on after a shower. I am not great at remembering to put lotion on daily, so this is not only very fab, but also very helpful. + I love the way it looks in my shower.
– Necessaire Eucalyptus Body Wash (16.9 oz) is the epitome of “niche luxury hot girl” culture and I love it. This value size is on sale + the bonus discount on top makes it quite a nice value. I have been on a bar of soap journey (which I love), but this is such a fun little treat for baths / everything showers / etc. I am a sucker for Eucalyptus!
– The new Westman Bronzing Drops in shade I round out my tiny little bag of treats. Another product I had been eyeing for a while. I am slow to add any bronze to my face (the first step to go on days I am rushed). I like the cool brown shade of these and the light sun-kissed feeling of my face when adding these *under* foundation. My only qualm is with the packaging. I used to use WA Complexion Drops (in the same packaging as the new bronzing drops), but I found a lot of spillover of the product into my makeup bag constantly. I am sure this is a user error, but I always find a lot of the product spilling out between the cap and bottle over time. My Bronzing drops have not done this yet, but I do fear that day is coming. I’ll keep you updated ;)
Happy Sephora-ing!
