If you are a loyalist to my mélange of a social media presence, first of all, TYSM and second of all – thank you for being present to all of my little twists. What a privilege that we get to live in this day in age where you can create whatever you like and draw infinite inspiration.
I had long been contemplating renaming my Instagram account @lovelyhappypresh to something a bit more, dare I say, refined. I remember the *genius* I felt after coming up with that name for the classic college girl “second Instagram” and have always loved an impersonal Instagram handle.
All of that to say – I really resonate with this circulating meme:
If you logged into my Canva account, you would just see a ton of mood boards. I hope it’s acceptable to say that this is one of my favorite hobbies? Instead of watching TV, I often find myself curating mood boards as if I am a big-time magazine editor.
I decided on @mirsmoodboard for my Instagram name switch because the account is simply that. After trying on a lot of hats, that account has become a home for me to post all of my pictures and *inspo* screenshots, and I am excited to be excited about posting more consistently on that account! This account by a Vogue France editor is incredibly inspirational and aspirational.
I have had the absolute best time with this complementary Substack rebrand + am eager to fulfill my 2025 goal of being more active on Substack, both consuming and creating. If you don’t have the app, I cannot recommend enough that you make that your first app download of 2025. While still fulfilling my need to *scroll,* I find myself learning and thinking much more than any competing social media platforms.
And without further ado, here is December in review – the second edition of this Substack series.
Loving –
– My vintage Bostons from my grandmother’s closet.
– Bookending my days with Morning and Evening by Spurgeon
– The Sisto Sisters + their holiday traveling content. Same can be said for the Chody sisters.
– My new Modern Citizen sweater. It’s essentially Fenni Fayne (hello Cooper Cardigan), but I personally think that MC’s color selection is even better. I expect to see a lot from this brand in 2025! They have great stand-alone styles.
Learning –
– How to be more like Lauren Santo Domingo (founder of Moda Operandi). She is on my mood board for 2025, and probably the coolest person ever. I loved what she had to say on The Skinny Confidential and The Good Buy.
– Rest is routine. And rest is intended to be uninterrupted. It’s crazy to me how often I find myself trying to rest with the TV on and on my computer and/or phone. I’m learning how to truly rest and unwind via books and journaling.
– A lot from Garance Dore's substack.
– Styling > buying for “gaps.” Of course there will always be some sort of “gap” in your wardrobe, but there are also infinitely more ways to style our pieces than we think. I saw a Donni model thread her sweater through her belt loops, so I did that yesterday with my Cyrillus blouse and Shon pants! How fun!
– The impact a simple day trip can make! I found myself extremely worn down most of this month, and I spent my Saturday that I had off visiting the Delta with my bff! I think that car rides are healing, a change of scenery is inspiring, and sometimes “doing” can help you reset when in a period of stagnation.
Lavishing –
– I am 105% the target audience for an LED mask. This Christmas gift from-me-to-me has proven benefits and makes me feel like I’m taking a bit of spa-like relaxation to my own bedroom.
– On that same note, this bath combo of magnetic clay bath + magnesium bath flakes is healing beyond healing.
– The gift that is the end of the year. I have no idea if it is Monday or Friday, which can start to get a little old. But what a gift that we all collectively as a society choose to end our years with a period of renewal, getting us ready for whatever the new year holds.
Until Next Month … !
