I discovered towards the end of last year that I take entirely too many pictures. Not too many pictures of different things (that is a problem too), but rather duplicates upon duplicates of the same image.
To combat this, I am clearing out my camera roll every day this week. I saw this method on @lizpwoods’s Instagram at the start of the new year, and it makes me feel so accomplished each day. To do so, you search the date (“2/17) into the search bar on the Photos app, and then photos taken each year on that date will populate. By the end of the year, the goal is to have any unnecessary photos cleaned out.
Throughout this process, I have found an additional concept contributing to my lack of phone storage: screenshots. Contrary to the duplicate images of, say, a sushi roll, I think that screenshots of things that inspire me (most from Substack / Instagram / Pinterest), can actually be put to good use when I remember them. I think there is something profoundly sweet about taking a moment to remember something we enjoyed consuming on our phone (there is some benevolence to content consumption).
I thought a fun concept would be to share a few I particularly loved – passing the inspiration on, if you will (inspiration is a circular concept).
I love pictures like this! I am always intending to recreate
This envelope menu is to die for. The personalized touch of the name at the top is so intentional! Saving for future reference . . .
I’ll just leave this here –
The thin wallspace used for art … Obsessed! Settles the room to look so cozy and not “too busy” at all
I love this thin line of a return address – stealing this as soon as I need to reorder stationery! I also want to get more use out of my wax seal I bought in Florence!
Obviously so obsessed with anything French – I loved this. Making everyday feel special and not sweating over guilt when savouring! I think it’s always a good reminder that stress is one of the worst things for our health and wellness.
I loved this and recreated with a personal touch during some evening doodling last week – part of today’s carousel on @miriamadairc
There’s plenty more where this came from! I love picking out what specifically touches my creativity about each photo. The Create Academy course I am taking said (in regards to Pinterest) that there is usually one element of a photo (pin) that stands out to us. Recreating an entire concept is really challenging (and no fun!!!), but finding the main thing you really love can help springboard your own creativity to find your own personal touch mixed with things that inspire!
